This is the Office Hours Report, your Friday recap of all the NBA Top Shot Office Hours in the week.
It’s a beautiful day here on the East Coast, let’s get into some Office Hours.
Office Hours - May 4th
Reservation Packs
Reservation packs are here to stay, Top Shot is scheduled to do weekly reservation packs. This will give everyone an opportunity to purchase base set packs and join the community. There is no limit on how many packs will be distributed, whoever reserves a pack within the given time frame will receive a pack.
Before each reservation pack, a list of moments in the packs will be released. It’s always nice to know what could be inside of the packs before you open them.
Showcase Contest
A snapshot was taken at 3 PM EST on May 4th to determine showcase eligibility. If your showcase received 20 likes and met the eligibility requirements, you can expect your Dapper credit to hit your account by May 12th.
Trade Tickets
Immense competition expected for the Series 1 Trade Ticket packs. “Multitudes more” than 1-5 Trade Tickets will be needed. We originally theorized that between 10-25 Trade Tickets would be needed, but now we are thinking 50 Trade Tickets could be the magic number.
Think about it, the Trade Ticket system is not being implemented overnight and it will be here in months. There are reservation packs happening every single week now, and let’s say for the sake of argument that Trade Tickets are released in six months. If you got one reservation pack every week for six months, that’s seventy two moments. Seventy two moments that can be used to make Trade Tickets.
Trade Tickets and Trade Ticket queues are expected to be a part of the Top Shot ecosystem long-term. Top Shot will reward collectors who hold Trade Tickets beyond the Series 1 packs. Our suggestion is out of every pack you open between now and the introduction of Trade Tickets, set aside 1 moment for the Trade Ticket system. Using our six month hypothetical, that would be twenty four moments you could turn into twenty four tickets.
Not much else is known about Trade Tickets as of now, but it’s something to plan for and keep in the back of your mind.
Packs
There is no master challenge for the Hustle and Show set. Do the challenges as you see fit, but there will be no reward for doing all of the challenges and collecting all of the moments.
Here comes the big one, buying and selling packs in the marketplace is coming this summer, likely late summer. We believe this is going to be a game changer and open up so many new opportunities for collectors.
Collector score is coming soon and will be explained in an upcoming blog post. Pack queues will be gated by collector score, but the necessary score will be accessible to many collectors. Trying to hit that sweet spot of excluding flippers but including as many collectors as possible.
Throwdown packs are happening either this week or next week and they will require a collector score requirement. Throwdown moments will be minted to 1800. As I write this, it’s Friday so it’s safe to assume that if Throwdown packs are coming, it will be sometime next week.
Miscellaneous
Top Shot is still cracking down on marketplace bots and collectors can share accounts that seem suspicious. Suspicious accounts can be reported at hoo.ps/report-a-bot.
There could be Easter eggs or mystery challenges for hidden rewards in the future. We have no idea what these could look like but it’s definitely interesting.
Office Hours - May 7th
Moments
The Top Shot team can release more moments for players after they retire. Vince Carter is an example of a player they expect to release Run-It-Back moments for in the future.
Packs
Reservation packs are to be distributed on a weekly basis.
There is a 50/50 chance they do a legendary rookie pack drop. We’ll take those odds.
Starting today at 3 PM EST, you have 72 hours to join the reservation pack drop queue.
Challenges
The next Cool Cats challenge is coming out next week. It will most likely be a showcase challenge. You won’t need to collect a specific moment from a specific player. Instead, you may need to collect a dunk from a certain set, or a 3-pointer from a certain series.
This challenge won’t be determined by likes, there are more details to come next week. This idea still has to be cleared by the legal team before it is implemented.
Miscellaneous
The Collector Score system will be launched in mid-to-late May. It will be subject to changes and upgrades over time. Challenge reward moments will have added weight towards Collector Score, a new incentive to complete challenges. The primary function of a Collector Score remains as a pack drop requirement.
Tomorrow, May 8th, @StephSutto will host a charity stream for the USO. Possibly will have an NBA player on as a guest. Auctioning off moments and all proceeds go to the USO.
No updates provided on utilizing moments towards fantasy or a playoff tournament. They are looking to add gamification and utility to moments, how that plays out and manifests itself has yet to be seen.
The Top Shot team is adding three new hires to their marketing team next week. If you think Top Shot is big now, just wait until the marketing starts.
And that is the first “Office Hours Report”.
Expect the next edition of the “Here For The Moments Report” on Wednesday, May 12th. The “Office Hours Report” will be posted every Friday at 3:30 PM EST. Stay tuned and thanks for reading, appreciate ya!
