#8
This is the Office Hours Report, your Friday recap of the NBA Top Shot Office Hours.
Office Hours - July 9th
End of Beta
No update on timeline.
Will be able to take Moments off-platform.
I don’t see Top Shot being in Beta past the off-season. Series 3, the start of a new NBA season would be the perfect time to get out of beta and start running ads.
End of Season 2 Roadmap
Playoff Packs - Today
'And Then There Were 4' Rare Drop — Sometime next week — Under $100 — Under #/1000 moment mint
4th Common Playoff Drop
Legendary Finals Drop
So there we have it, there will be three more pack drops before the end of Series 2.
Full Team Sets
Meant to be manageable, not easy.
Bonus is high because it will be difficult in future/take commitment to maintain.
Mint Quantity
Common set is meant to be accessible, by pack and availability. 35,000-40,000 seems to be a good mint count for commons. It’s enough where everyone that wants a Moment can get one but it’s not enough that there are too many of them.
Balancing accessibility and scarcity is a priority. In the 80’s into the early 90’s, manufacturers of baseball cards were printing up to 5 millions of each card. The highest mint count in Top Shot is 40,000. We have a long way to go until Moments are worth absolutely nothing, but it is a fine balance between too much and not enough.
All about long-term, the goal is to bring in billions of users. With billions of users we are going to need a little more than 40,000 of each Moment.
Olympics
Possible Olympics quests featuring players who are participating. This would be something I could definitely see happening during the off-season, I really like this idea.
Run It Back
Both Rare and Common Moments coming this summer.
Could be multiple years for different tiers, will go into deeper history than 2013-14 which was the timeframe for Series 1 RIB.
Short Term Priorities
Confidence in product, marketplace, economy.
Listening to feedback, improving communication. The Top Shot team has been great with this, they are very transparent and Office Hours every Friday gives us an inside look at what’s going on behind the scenes.
Improving new user experience.
Stress Test
Tested 3 queues w/ diff. CS, will be used for next Rare drop.
Gives low-CS users a 'punchers-chance', rewards high-CS w/ better odds.
CC users able to access all 3 queues.
The way it worked for those who didn’t participated was one queue opened up first and was only open to collectors who met the CS threshold. At 6:00 PM EST, the second queue opened up with a lower CS required to enter. Finally, an hour later at 7:00 PM EST the third queue opened up. The first queue required 500 CS, the second needed a score of 300 and the final queue had a requirement of 100 CS.
Trade Tickets
November 22nd is an internal deadline for Series 1 reserve packs to be distributed.
Will be used far in the future, not just for Series 1 reserves.
This concludes the eight “Office Hours Report”.
The next edition of the “Here For The Moments Report” will be Wednesday, July 14th and the next “Office Hours Report” will come Friday, July 16th.
Stay tuned and thanks for reading, appreciate ya!
